Team (Project) Introduction 
The Office of Performance Analysis and Integrity manages and enhances the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) which resides on one Oracle M8 Supercluster database and thirteen application servers.  Our team provides the technical services required to sustain EDW applications to include Project Management, Data Warehouse Management, Advanced Analytics, Tableau Server Administration/Tableau Desktop Administration, Technical Collaboration Support, Lessons Learned, Executive Orders and Special Projects, Architectural Enhancement, and Cloud Migration. We also provide management, enhancement, integration, implementation, maintenance, modernization, and infrastructure support for EDW applications and enhancement and maintenance of business intelligence capabilities and predictive analytics.  
 
9th Way Insignia is looking for a Database Architect to join this team.  This position is contingent upon award from the government.

An Engineer 3 typically plans and directs research or development work on complex projects, along with engaging various parties in design and development. Costs and recommendations of new components may also involve part of the job scope. Performs multiple engineering-related tasks in various assignments within the project and firm. Engineer 3 oversees the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems.  Engineer 3 has broad knowledge of engineering procedures and assists in the resolution of complex problems.  Engineer 3 has strong technical skills and background, a knack for learning new technologies, and a blend of good problem-solving and innovation needed to resolve a wide variety of technical production challenges. 

 

Functional Job (LCAT) Information: 

A Database Architect can clearly identify data management goals. This individual can effectively translate user needs to database design. Has experience in creating database management processes and detailed documentation. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Design and implement scalable and secure database solutions based on organizational requirements. 

  • Evaluate and recommend database technologies and tools to meet business goals and objectives. 

  • Develop and maintain data models to represent the organization's information architecture. 

  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and normalization across databases.  

  • Monitor and optimize database performance to ensure optimal responsiveness and efficiency. 

  • Identify and address bottlenecks, database tuning, and optimization opportunities.  

  • Implement and enforce data security policies to safeguard sensitive information. 

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards related to data management.  

  • Collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to integrate database systems with applications. 

Provide technical guidance and support to the development team on database-related issues.  

  • Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies to prevent data loss. 

  • Develop, implement, and test disaster recovery procedures for databases.  

  • Where appropriate, provide recommendations for improvements and alternative solutions as part of an analysis of alternatives (AOA), with the goal of improving the stability, reliability and availability of the EDW. 

  • Collaborate with team to generate technical documentation including development planning, technical architecture, software testing and deployment process.  

  • Participate in the development and execution of Change Management and Release Management Plans. 

  • As needed, make internal and systematic changes to technical aspects as part of change management processes. 

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related scientific/technical discipline, 10 years of additional relevant experience considered in lieu of Degree.  

  • 2 years of experience architecting enterprise wide database solutions.  

  • Prior experience in a federal data warehouse and understanding of government procedures and regulations is preferred. 

  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S 

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance. 

 
Salary Range: 
The salary range for this position is $118,737-$125,000
